Kids Voting Hawaii in Hawaii
An affiliate of Kids Voting USA, Kids Voting Hawaii (KVH) was introduced in 1996 as a pilot project with the Rotary Club of Honolulu and the Rotary Club of Upcountry Maui.
1998 & 2000 Hawaii students statewide were invited to adult polling sites to cast paper ballots for major candidates. In the three elections from 1996 through 2000, KVH polling booths, staffed by Rotarians, attracted more than 125,000 students.
2002 58,000 Hawaii students became the first in the nation to vote statewide online, thanks to the cutting-edge internet technology of Commercial Data Systems. Election Day walk-in voting was hosted by Rotarians.
2004 89,000 Hawaii students cast their Kids Voting general election ballot online. Walk-in voting continued.
2006 97,500 Hawaii students cast their ballots via the Internet.
2008 119,756 Hawaii students in grades K-12 statewide (public, private charter & home-school) cast their ballots via the Internet.
