WELCOME TO THE KIDS VOTING HAWAII MEDIA CENTER
Kids Voting Hawaii is a story worth covering, because it touches every family with school-aged children in the state of Hawaii.
Kids Voting Hawaii is an all-volunteer, nonprofit, non-partisan experience in democracy for students in grades K-12, in public and private schools statewide.
- This online opportunity for the next generation to get into the habit of voting will be enhanced in 2010 by the first ever Kids Voting Hawaii Mock Primary Election. Results will be released to the public at 6 PM September 18th.
- The students’ online voting period mirrors the adult walk-in voting period in the Primary and General Elections, leaving lots of time for campus and community based KVH rallies and other promotional activities.
- The password-protected, one-student-one-vote Kids Voting Hawaii General Election results will be released to the public at 6 PM November 2nd…before the adult printouts are released to the media. In 2008 General Election, 119,756 students cast their ballots online.
- In addition to calling up virtually the same ballot their parents will have when they go to the polls, students will vote on age specific issues identified by their peers.
